Locke handled the driving duties on Saturday and was able to keep his nose clean and cruise to an uncontested win. Myers hopped into the car and took to a wet race track on Sunday, and after taking the Green Flag from mid-pack of the second wave, he used a great start to pick off 6 cars by the end of the back stretch. As the track started to dry, Myers would continue to move forward and as the Checkered Flag flew he found himself P1 in class and at the front of all the second wave racers.
MM Driver Doug Kowalczyk Makes Strong Showing in PTE
see In his first ever NASA PTE event, MM Driver Doug Kowalczyk would pilot his #07 Honda Civic Si to a pair of 2nd place finishes. After taking the Green Flag from his 4th place starting spot on Saturday, Kowalczyk would drive a smart clean race, passing Gary Ellis’s Miata at the end of Lap 3 and making the jump to P2 at the end of lap 6 after Paul Gillum’s Nissan Sentra SE-R spun off track. From there Doug set his sights on front runner Jason Kohler’s Miata and taking the Checkered Flag 8-seconds back.
watch Sunday’s wet race track proved to be a non-issue for Kowalczyk as he would move up from his P3 starting position to take the lead at the end of Lap 2. From there, he and Jason Kohler would trade the lead several times before the Checkers flew on Lap 15, with Doug again taking the second step on the podium, finishing a mere 1.9 seconds behind Kohler.
