This would be Brian’s first time on track with NASA in 2012, and despite the near record high temperatures, he picked up right where he left off in 2011 on Saturday in grabbing the pole and taking the win in the PTE class, charging out to over a 10-second lead and cruising to the win. In TTE, Makse was able to go out and thow down a fast lap early in the day and sit on his time, and as the track went cold at the end of Saturday’s competition he would walk away with the win in TTE as well.
enter Sunday morning’s warm-up session would set the tone for a day of one-and-done fast laps, with Makse taking to the track and throwing down a lap that could not be touched by his fellow PTE competitors, thus giving him a prime grid spot for the morning’s qualifying session. In the qualifying session, Brian worked a good gap on the out lap and hit his marks perfectly on the first hot lap, taking pole position for the afternoon’s race. In his lone TTE session of the day, Makse would again go the one-and-done route, finding just enough of a gap amongst his TT competitors to nail his first hot lap, taking the win in TTE by more than a second. Sunday’s PTE race would put the finishing touches on a great weekend, with Brian running one of the most consistant races of his career and rolling to a 40+ second victory.
